'TOKYO IS LOSING ITS PRESTIGE:'

Versace is closing its stores in Japan. It's not like there are a truckload of them but just 3 total. And the Gianni Versace SpA group scrapped plans for the future store in Ginza.

Bloomberg news describes:

“'The Versace boutiques in Japan no longer represented the brand image and it was felt to be more advantageous for the company to close them and start with a clean slate,' Milan- based Versace said yesterday in a statement. The fashion company has three stores in Japan, according to the Web site.

Versace, which entered Japan in 1981, is the latest brand to scale back operations in the country, as falling wages and job losses chill consumer confidence. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA said in December that it scrapped plans to open a store in Ginza, one of Tokyo’s busiest shopping districts.

'Tokyo is losing its prestige,' said Naoki Iizuka, a senior economist at Mizuho Securities Co. in Tokyo. Luxury goods makers see less need to sell their products in Tokyo with the increasing importance of Singapore and Hong Kong as financial centers, he said.

Donatella Versace was in full-on drag regalia with her peroxide blond wig, over-baked tan, and pudgy duck lips.

DRAGULOUS IS DESIGNING A NEW LAMBORGHINI

We posted yesterday that dragulous was designing the interiors of The Clock Tower building......NOW

That dragulous designer and heavily tanned duck- lipped Donatella Versace is lending her deft design hand to the interior of a limited edition Lamborghini car and accompanying accessories--like gloves and bags to be sold as separates too.

The Murcielago LP640 Roadster is the lucky vehicle to receive the design makeover.

The black and white interiors will be made by demand so mass production is not an issue.  The accessories will include trolleys, suitcases, gloves and bags and will be available for purchase in Versace and Lamborghini stores by November.

Versace and the car company have had a creative relationship for the past two years. 

Versace designed an interior of a limited edition Murcielago coupe and another car that went to aauction for a charity.

The luxury car maker wants to raise its profile and make some extra cash through this collaboration.

Can we order the famed Medusa head icon as a hood ornament, a la the Rolls Royce Angel?????
