AD MAN

LA*SURFPUNK is a big supporter of Ryan McGinley.

The lenser has clicked for Levi's Pioneer, Missoni, Wrangler and Converse campaigns.

Now the 33- year- old has made a short film for Pringle of Scotland.

The muse in the film is Tilda Swinton.

The film opens with Swinton in a full-length, racer-back gown running through a forest, mix in a gray purple sky and golden wheat fields and the visual sounds stunning.

McGinley quipped that Swinton is a match for the 195-year old brand: "Tilda is timeless. She has this strong or fragile look that could either be from the future or ancient history."

We would love to be in a forest with you RyRy, running towards your open arms!!

We hear chatter that the Hermes Mens store on Madison Avenue in NYC opens in February.

RING TRUE:

Cartier will host one of the Golden Globe parties Sunday.

The storied jewelry house will team up with NBC Universal and it's Focus Features shingle to ante up the glamour quotient.

Look for many a star in Cartier wares this weekend.

Having little or no shows on actors' arms and other appendages: Harry Winston and Fred Leighton.

The capsule collection Jean Paul Gaultier is doing for Target may include a $40 trench coat.

We love it and we'll take it. And we'll take one of his iconic Parisian striped boat shirts!!

One of the great things about gay guys, we don't do categories. Our clothes DON'T have to ALL come from the Mens Dept. If we see something we like, we seize it, wear it and make it our own, like said trench coat.

We even take from the kids departments... Ralph Lauren boys oxfords size 20 and Hello Kitty notebooks from tween twats.

So sad for the strH8t set, where everything has to be in categories and boxes for them to understand: Gay/Straight.... Trans? huh!! .... Mens/Womens clothes. Black/white. And, in the prison of those confines, they can NEVER think OUTSIDE of the box!!

Breathe a slight sigh of relief.

We hear Skanks and the City Sarah Jessica Parker is only taking a creative role at Halston's Heritage line not the RTW line as everyone assumed.

The Heritage line "reinvents" iconic Halston pieces and redesigns those for today's modernity. Just don't make it too modern where it reads Samantha Jones slutty.

So for now.... Marios Schwab is safe.

And really, how bad can Shallow "ruin" the Heritage Line.

SPOILED BITCHES

Conde just got nastier....

VOGUE staffers were directed to start using NY's subways instead of the Conde Nast's Town Cars.

Forced to lead by example, publisher Susan Plagemann and associate publisher, Lottie Oakley have to hit the MTA.

New York magazine gives the cuntanistas and gays a little primer on subway ins-and-outs. Why doesn't anyone give us help (tips, money, free lunch, free clothes, free ride) on any given day. What so special about some Conde Nasties??

Another tip:

On the subway, don't go around campaigning and promoting the latest Balenciaga or Marc Jacobs bag as a badge of honor. You just might get your snatch shanked and your purse snatched.

GOLDEN FLUBS

With the Golden Globes on Sunday, award season is in full swing.

May we recommend to all the gentleman attending and walking the red carpet Sunday and at the Oscars: WEAR A TUXEDO!!

Not a suit, not a sports coat, a collarless jacket, jeans,-- we don't care if it is by Giorgio Armani or Prada or BOSS or....WEAR A TUXEDO and it's okay if it is from Armani, Prada, BOSS or...

WITH A PROPER BOW TIE. Not some cross thing that Dracula would don.

If you waited until this week to figure out what to wear, well really it is too late for you.

May we recommend Polo Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers. Being an actor and all, we're sure these stores will accommodate you fastidiously before Sunday's events. And since TV and film pays so well we know the price points won't even break your bank account.

If you are an actor that needs help, reach out to us. We are stylists. We can have you red carpet ready in no time and pull a wardrobe for travel and premieres or just daily duties on the set or locations.

To our all our actors, we say again WEAR A TUXEDO with a PROPER BOW TIE!! Not only will you look appropriate, but decades later, when you see images of yourself, you will be thankful!!

FREEGANS' FINDS

TAKE A DUMP:

In simple terms, Freegans are individuals that dumpster dive and find free things to wear, eat or augment their environment.

The New York Times found a treasure trove of ripped clothes in H&M's dumpster. Many questioned why those goods had to be razor-shredded instead of given to the homeless.

This story prompted some freegans to dumpster dive at the Urban Outfitters trash in Manhattan.

Treasures abound: iPod stereo system, hamburger phones, shoes, posters, notepads, neon-colored Nikes, calendars-- the dumped boxes were labeled "Broken Glass."

An employee stated the "Broken Glass" boxes were headed for The Salvation Army, not the trash.

Hmmm, don't believe everything you read or hear!!

The work force at Karl Lagerfeld's eponymous label is downsizing.

May we remember, Kaiser Karl reduced his work force at Chanel in 2009 with 200 employee layoffs.

Even Unkle Karl's fan can't extinguish those recessionary flames.....

British former politician Tony Blair is going to be an advisor for Bernard Arnault's LVMH.

LVMH owns a hefty chunk of today's fashionable luxury goods: Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, Sephora, Marc Jacobs, Celine along with wine and spirits.

FORD DESIGN:

Tom Ford conversed with KCRW about being a director and his film A Single Man.

He prattles about the skills he used as a designer and transferring those to celluloid, his fear of yelling "cut" the first day and the editing process.

AMAZING GRACE

WHISKERVILLE:

Grace Coddington extracted herself from the confines of 4 Times Square to be a guest on The Martha Stewart Show.

The show's theme was everything feline.

If you didn't know, Coddington is a huge cat enthusiast. Her appearance was sans Pumpkin or Bart, the VOGUE editor's furry feline friends.

Coddington was donning a silver necklace made up of cat-head charms.

Martha's eagle eye spotted the jewelry hardware from afar and quickly "coveted" the piece.

Coddington tubthumped her tome Catwalk Cats, a book featuring cat sketches and drawings.

Quips Grace: "It's my life in the book through a cat."

A CASE STUDY:

Counterfeiters are getting the university quantum theory analysis.

Professor Renee Richardson Gosline, of MIT Sloane School of Management, theorizes that luxury brands really shouldn't fear counterfeiters.

A conducted survey revealed that 40% of the respondents that purchase fake Chanels, Louis Vuittons and Versaces end up buying the REAL thing.

When the consumer buys a fake, he can "test drive" the product. When they see how shoddy the counterfeit item is crafted, the quality of the luxury purchase stands out.
