CFDA/VOGUE FASHION FINALISTS

The CFDA names the 2010 ten fashion finalists.

Some of these will be household names in the future, think Thakoon, Rodarte, Trovata, Proenza Schouler and Erin Fetherston.

Why the endowment was set up (via cfda.com):

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue magazine have created an endowment to support the next generation of American fashion designers. With monies raised, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has been established, the stated purpose of which is to generate sufficient income each year to fund significant financial awards to one or more designers and provide business mentoring. Award recipients are selected by a Committee of industry experts, based on the exceptional talent they have already demonstrated in fashion design and their capacity for future distinction in the fashion industry.


The ten fashion finalists for the CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund Initiative are:

Hearing awful news like this makes us sick to our stomachs....

Model Tom Nicon passed away.

His body was found in a Milan courtyard.

Authorities are surmising it as a suicide.

Huffington Post reports: This is how Tom's friends described it to the police: "In his final days, he became more sad," they said. "Tom was a sweet, sensible boy." Friday morning, he was busy trying on clothes for Versace. He had to change for four outfits. "He was very normal," Dontatella Versace said. "Only in the morning was he closed off in a strange silence. I wonder if this was a sign that, as a woman and mother, I could have caught?"

In The September Issue, besides Grace Coddington being the breakout star, we felt Sally Singer stood out and shined.

She showed compassion when interviewed and had a real sense of calmness and clarity about her.

Chatter is.... Singer has resigned from her VOGUE position (Fashion News/Features Director) to helm the EIC position for The New York Times style magazine T.

This could up the ante at T magazine. Excellent fashion stories await.......
