SHIPLEY AND HALMOS--FALL 2009

HALMOS (L), SHIPLEY (R)

As you readers already know, WE ARE IN LOVE WITH SAM SHIPLEY.  He's got that beachy blond surfer look we CRAVE.  He and Halmos are two of four that founded Trovata in a dorm room at college.

For these economic times, the Shipley and Halmos collection for Fall 2009 had some foundation pieces that you would want now and to reach in your closet for the next decade.

The biker jacket is a must have--you will get more than your money's worth.

I found hints of Donna Karan, with their use of color,  and their other looks were clean-cut and bold  a la Calvin Klein.

Very Donna Karan, who has built for decades, collections of basic black with a shot of color.

Very Klein-esque...

I thought the suits were strong although I prefer my jackets to be a more fitted in the waist--not so full, which they showed.

We like a slimmer silhouette......

I thought the sweaters were perfect for evening and holiday functions--they gave it that extra umph to the boring grey v-neck cashmere choice.

I have to disagree with Tim Blanks who referred to the cardigans as  too Logan's Run and the overall collection as not having enough charm.

If you are handing over your HARD EARNED DOLLARS at the counters of Saks and Barneys,  you will definitely have some wearable pieces for years to come investing in the collection of Shipley and Holmes Fall 2009.
