VINTAGE: BJORN BORG

What is not to love about Bjorn Borg? His signature mop of blond hair; the twinkle in his eyes---we love zee blondes especially Swedish!!

And, his tennis game was impeccable. He perfectly mastered the mechanics of the sport, his laser-like precision.  His absolute shot placement--sublime.  He was at the top of his game in the '70s and '80s.

Wimbledon, back in that era, was always a delight for us. We looked forward to his appearance and to what he wore:   The Fila uniforms for match games.

He had the best shirts and jackets.  Just mouthwatering!! We were soooo envious. We coveted EVERY piece.

Today, in the new millennium, all we can say is thank heaven for Ebay! We supplemented our meager Fila wardrobe from the 1980s with iconic pieces that we've always wanted!! Now, it is a collection that any Fila enthusiast would envy!!  And, a collection that might make Borg whisper:  I have that...and that...and that, too!

THE ORIGINAL BLOND AMBITION:

BORG'S KEY LOOKS:

The vertical striped Fila shirt with his custom monogrammed Fila logos.

Borg's iconic apres match red jacket. The jacket that made many a front page on newspapers globally after he collected his trophy titles:

John McEnroe was generously outfitted by Sergio Tacchini for most of his career:

A side note: If you also covet some of these pieces, may we recommend Ebay and also try Wasteland on Melrose. Sometimes they receive some excellent vintage Fila pieces. But when?--that is the question!! You have to physically visit the store on a frequent basis to cull through the racks of clothes. Their stock varies daily.

We've also found great Fila pieces at Out Of The Closet (proceeds go to AIDS Healthcare)--- our #1 favorite location is Santa Monica/Crescent Heights. Stock varies at all the stores daily. You may not see Fila pieces for a whole year then one day some really cool pieces may appear. That's the beauty of vintage/thrift stores--you never know!!

Fabulous, darling
