Retail giant Abercrombie & Fitch has opened a Ginza District outpost in Japan. The store has been met with a cool reception by consumers.
Writer W. David Marx scribes some of the problems:
> The store is charging double for merchandise than the items found in US stores
> Mostly American looking employees on the floor
> English is spoken to greet shoppers and converse with
> Male staffers wear shirts unbuttoned
All of our American ways (crassness and the arrogance of not speaking in the native tongue) don't always transition well in other lands. Go figure A&F suits!!
If A&F isn't careful, the Japanese will leave all their fratboy-like clothing unpledged.
